This company is a global supplier of compact electromechanical components supporting thermal management, airflow control, and automated movement functions in transportation systems. The Japan office is a small commercial and engineering hub that coordinates with domestic manufacturers while relying on overseas production sites. Their products include small motors, actuators, fluid‑handling devices, and integrated motion modules used by major vehicle makers and their upstream module suppliers.
In this role you will be responsible for leading an engineering team delivering motion-system and electromechanical solutions for industrial customers.
The role combines technical leadership and people management. You will establish the engineering direction for the team, oversee customer application projects, improve engineering standards and tools, and ensure projects meet technical, quality, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
The position requires someone with enough hands-on engineering depth in motors, drives, motion systems, or related electromechanical products to guide engineers, challenge technical decisions, and act as a senior technical contact for customers.

- Technical & Application Engineering Leadership
・Define the engineering strategy and technical direction for industrial motion-system applications.
・Establish engineering standards covering mechanical and electrical design.
・Standardize the use of CAD, motor/drive diagnostic tools, and other engineering toolchains.
・Serve as a senior technical authority for customers and internal engineering teams.
・Represent the engineering organization during customer discussions, technical reviews, and audits.
Product Lifecycle & Engineering Processes
・Lead and optimize PLM processes covering BOM management, engineering changes, releases, and product documentation.
・Improve PLM workflows using Teamcenter or equivalent systems.
・Coordinate engineering activities with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other functions.
・Establish engineering software, tools, and development best practices.
Validation, Testing & Quality
・Lead validation and testing strategies for motion-system products.
・Oversee test benches, environmental testing, and motor/drive diagnostics.
・Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable quality and industrial/electrical safety standards.
・Support compliance with ISO 9001 and relevant quality frameworks.
・Lead engineering preparation and responses for customer and certification audits.
Project & Portfolio Management
・Oversee multiple concurrent customer and engineering projects.
・Manage engineering resources, priorities, schedules, risks, scope, and milestones.
・Ensure projects remain technically aligned with customer requirements and business objectives.
・Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders throughout project execution.
Digital Engineering & Data
・Promote digital engineering approaches such as MBSE and digital twin methodologies.
・Identify opportunities to automate and improve engineering processes.
・Encourage the use of analytics and statistical methods for performance prediction and technical risk assessment.
・Use engineering data to support design decisions and technical trade-offs.
People Leadership
・Lead and develop the Application Engineering team.
・Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop engineers.
・Conduct performance management and support individual career development.
・Drive productivity and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
・Build a collaborative, customer-focused, technically rigorous engineering culture.
・Lead organizational and engineering-process change initiatives.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
・Understand customer requirements and translate them into actionable engineering plans.
・Act as a senior technical interface with industrial customers.
・Ensure effective communication between customers, engineering, quality, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams.
・Maintain technical alignment and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

- 応募資格（必須）
- ・ Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
・ 8+ years of Application Engineering and/or Product Engineering experience.
・ Technical experience with motion systems, electric motors, drives, actuators, or related electromechanical products.
・ Proven engineering people-management experience, including recruiting, coaching, team development, & performance management
・ Hands-on experience with PLM systems, preferably Teamcenter or an equivalent platform.
・ Experience with CAD tools.
・ Knowledge of validation and testing practices.
・ Working knowledge of quality-management frameworks such as ISO 9001.
・ Strong project-management experience across multiple simultaneous engineering projects.
・ Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.
・ Business-level English
