The firm is seeking a Finance Manager to join its Japan operations. The company is known for its strong commitment to operational excellence, compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role supports both local and overseas leadership, contributing to the financial stability and strategic evolution of the business in Japan.

As Finance Manager you will oversee the preparation, accuracy, and integrity of statutory and group‑level financial statements in accordance with local regulations and international reporting standards. This position manages the accounting team, enforces compliance, strengthens internal controls, supervises financial processes, and supports local and regional management with reporting and analysis. The role requires adaptability and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, growth-oriented environment.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Management & Team Development

    Lead, mentor, and develop the Japan Finance accounting team, ensuring skills evolve in line with organizational needs.
    Optimize and structure the accounting function to meet both entity and department objectives while following global guidelines.
    Promote strong collaboration between finance and cross‑functional departments.
    Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across multiple business sites, requiring periodic domestic travel.

    Accounting & Internal Controls

    Ensure full compliance with both global and local accounting standards (e.g., IFRS and local GAAP).
    Implement corporate financial procedures and monitor adherence across the organization.
    Maintain integrity of financial accounts through monthly balance sheet reviews and management of accruals and prepaid expenses.
    Oversee general accounting, fixed asset management, and inventory valuation in coordination with FP&A teams.
    Coordinate payroll bookings with the Human Resources department.
    Act as key user for finance modules in ERP systems and support system enhancements.
    Coordinate with global teams on treasury, legal, and tax matters.
    Serve as a primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and relevant authorities.
    Prepare annual tax filings with external support and manage calculations for various taxes and corporate reporting.
    Strengthen and maintain the internal control environment.

    Support to Regional Finance Leadership

    Coordinate costing activities in collaboration with the controlling function.
    Manage monthly rolling forecasts, annual budgets, and long‑term business planning under the direction of senior finance leadership.
    Produce ad‑hoc financial reports and analyses for local management.
  • Requirements
    - Solid experience in accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls within an international environment.

    - Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP requirements.

    - Experience managing or supervising an accounting team.

    -Hands‑on expertise with ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar).

    - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

    - Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English.

    - Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Preferred
    - Experience in a multinational manufacturing environment or multi‑site operations.

    - Exposure to global reporting structures and coordination with overseas headquarters.

    - Familiarity with cost accounting and inventory valuation processes.

    - Experience supporting tax filings and liaising with external auditors or advisors.

    - Prior involvement in process improvement or financial systems enhancements.
