In Japan, the company maintains R&D facilities dedicated to advanced sensing technologies and intelligent driving systems, supporting global development programs in the field of ADAS and automated driving.

In this role you will be responsible for process engineering and tooling development for plastic injection molded automotive components.

You will support new product launches and manufacturing process development, managing plastic part engineering, mold design coordination, and process validation activities through the start of production (SOP). The role also focuses on improving manufacturing efficiency, quality performance, and cost optimization.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Process Engineering & New Product Launch
    ・Manage engineering activities for plastic components, molds, and manufacturing processes from development through start of production.
    ・Provide technical input for tooling and manufacturing during product development milestones.
    ・Coordinate mold concept development for global platforms.

    Plastic Part & Mold Engineering
    ・Design plastic parts, molds, and manufacturing processes according to internal production system standards.
    ・Support R&D design teams regarding plastic part engineering and manufacturability.
    ・Define mold features, injection machine specifications, and molding process conditions.
    ・Validate mold design and tooling layouts.

    Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
    ・Identify opportunities to improve existing manufacturing processes, tooling design, and production efficiency.
    ・Implement lean manufacturing improvements to reduce cost, improve quality, and optimize process stability.
    ・Analyze Moldflow simulations and implement improvements to tooling design and molding processes.

    Validation & Production Support
    ・Manage mold tuning activities from off-tool trials to initial sample production.
    ・Conduct molding tryouts and establish robust process windows for stable production
    ・Support tooling transfer and production launch at internal plants or supplier facilities.
    ・Maintain technical documentation and maintenance records for tooling.

    Supplier & Global Coordination
    ・Evaluate and support toolmakers and suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
    ・Collaborate with global engineering teams to standardize processes and improve manufacturing practices.
  • Requirements
    ・Ability to communicate in Japanese, English, or Chinese
    ・If the candidate speaks only Chinese, basic conversational Japanese or English is preferred.
    ・At least 1 year of experience related to injection molding processes
    ・Domestic travel approximately twice per month
    ・Travel to manufacturing facilities and supplier sites including Kanda plant and supplier locations
  • Preferred
    ・Educational background in Mechanical Engineering
    ・Experience in automotive component mold design engineering
    ・Experience in plastic injection molding for automotive components
    ・Strong interest in manufacturing engineering and process development.
    ・Ability to collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
    ・Problem-solving mindset for process optimization and tooling improvements.
    ・Interest in learning advanced injection molding technologies.
