In this role you will plan, execute, analyze, and report physical validation testing for electrified automotive drivetrain products.

The role focuses particularly on electronically controlled driveline systems and electric-drive products, combining electrical/electronic control knowledge with practical automotive testing.

You will work with automotive OEM customers, overseas engineering teams, suppliers, and external laboratories to define test conditions, prepare test equipment, execute system-level tests, analyze results, and verify that products meet technical requirements.

This is a hands-on experimental and validation role rather than a pure design or software-development position.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Test Planning & Execution
    ・Develop test plans and execute physical validation testing for electrified drivetrain and powertrain products.
    ・Define appropriate test conditions based on product and customer requirements.
    ・Prepare and configure the equipment required for system testing.
    ・Support test readiness from planning through execution and completion.

    Test Analysis & Reporting
    ・Analyze and summarize test data and system behavior.
    ・Evaluate whether products meet technical and performance requirements.
    ・Prepare formal test reports and technical documentation.
    ・Communicate findings, risks, and recommended actions to engineering teams and customers.

    Test Equipment & Facility Coordination
    ・Identify and evaluate equipment required for product and system testing.
    ・Coordinate testing activities with external laboratories.
    ・Work with suppliers to prepare fixtures, equipment, components, and test environments.
    ・Support investment and budget requests related to testing equipment and facilities.

    Customer & Global Engineering Coordination
    ・Coordinate test conditions, schedules, and requirements with automotive customers.
    ・Work closely with overseas physical-test and engineering teams.
    ・Participate in technical workshops, training sessions, and global engineering activities.
    ・Support knowledge sharing and technical training within the local testing organization.
  • Requirements
    ・Degree from a university, graduate school, or technical college in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
    ・Automotive engineering experience involving electrical/electronic control systems for powertrain or drivetrain products.
    ・Knowledge and practical experience with development processes and tools related to design, experimentation / testing, evaluation / validation, electronic control, embedded or control software, experience creating engineering reports and technical specifications.
    ・Experience collaborating with multiple engineering stakeholders.
    ・Valid Japanese driver's license.
    ・Native to Business-level Japanese (JLPT N1–N2 level or equivalent)
    ・Intermediate English (TOEIC 650)
    ・Domestic and international travel may occur.
    ・Occasional evening meetings may be required to align with European or North American time zones.
  • Preferred
    ・Experience working with global engineering organizations.
    ・Development or validation experience with eDrive systems, electrified drivetrains, electronic limited-slip differential systems, motor / inverter / gearbox systems
    ・Electrically controlled drivetrain components
    ・Experience coordinating with OEM customers.
    ・Experience with test benches, instrumentation, DAQ, measurement systems, or automotive system validation.
    ・Project-management or technical-coordination experience.
