A global automotive technology supplier is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to lead the technical coordination and delivery of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) development projects for Japanese automotive manufacturers.

In this role, you will oversee technical development planning, project schedules, cross-functional coordination, customer technical discussions, and risk management.

You will be responsible for ensuring that technical activities remain aligned with project objectives, customer requirements, and delivery schedules.

This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in automotive ECUs or embedded software who is looking to take greater responsibility for technical project management in an international development environment.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    ■ Technical Project Management
    ・Define, plan, and coordinate end-to-end technical product development activities for ADAS projects.
    ・Align development plans, technical requirements, and deliverables with Japanese automotive manufacturers.
    ・Manage project schedules, milestones, and technical priorities.
    ・Identify technical and scheduling risks and coordinate mitigation activities.

    ■ Cross-Functional Engineering Coordination
    ・Evaluate and assign engineering work packages to cross-functional development teams.
    ・Coordinate technical activities with global project stakeholders.
    ・Track development progress and address issues affecting project delivery.
    ・Ensure alignment between engineering teams, project objectives, and customer expectations.

    ■ Customer & Technical Communication
    ・Lead and support technical negotiations with customers and partner companies.
    ・Communicate engineering requirements, technical challenges, and project status in Japanese and English.
    ・Facilitate technical discussions between Japanese customers and international engineering teams.
  • Requirements
    ・Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
    ・At least 5 years of experience in automotive ECU or embedded software engineering.
    ・Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
    ・Ability to explain and discuss technical concepts in both Japanese and English.
    ・Good understanding of automotive communication networks, including CAN, CAN-FD, and Ethernet.
    ・Knowledge of embedded systems engineering and automotive standards such as Automotive SPICE, AUTOSAR, and UDS.
    ・Strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and project ownership.
  • Preferred
    ・Understanding of vehicle control systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).
    ・Knowledge of automotive sensor technologies, including LiDAR, cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors.
    ・Knowledge of ISO 26262 and Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL).
    ・Familiarity with requirements management and issue-resolution tools.
    ・German language skills.
