A global automotive technology supplier is seeking a Semiconductor & Electronic Component Specialist to support the development and execution of global semiconductor and electronic component strategies.

The position focuses on component selection, technical evaluation, qualification, supplier development, and lifecycle management to ensure reliable and sustainable product development.

You will collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier organizations to maintain component quality, regulatory compliance, technology competitiveness, and long-term supply continuity.

This is a technical specialist position combining semiconductor engineering expertise, electronic component management, supplier coordination, and global technology strategy.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    ■ Semiconductor & Electronic Component Strategy
    ・Develop and implement global strategies for semiconductor and electronic component selection, evaluation, approval, and lifecycle management.
    ・Support component technology planning and alignment with current and future product requirements.
    ・Provide technical guidance on component selection, alternative solutions, and engineering best practices.
    ・Influence supplier technology roadmaps and component specifications.

    ■ Component Qualification & Technical Quality
    ・Define and support component qualification, validation, testing, and functional safety compliance activities.
    ・Evaluate semiconductor and electronic component reliability and technical suitability.
    ・Support failure analysis, structured problem-solving, and component-related issue resolution.
    ・Ensure compliance with relevant customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.

    ■ Supplier Management & Supply Continuity
    ・Lead supplier development and technical performance improvement activities.
    ・Identify and mitigate lifecycle risks, including component obsolescence and supply discontinuation.
    ・Support second-source evaluation and long-term component availability.
    ・Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and supply-related issues.

    ■ Component Data & Compliance
    ・Maintain component technical data, documentation, and approval records.
    ・Manage component information and workflows using Siemens EDM or equivalent systems.
    ・Support compliance with REACH, RoHS, and applicable technical regulations.
    ・Coordinate component-related activities across global engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
  • Requirements
    ・Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related technical discipline.
    ・At least 5 years of experience in semiconductor or electronic component development.
    ・Strong knowledge of semiconductor technologies, including Integrated circuit (IC) design, Wafer fabrication, Semiconductor assembly and packaging, semiconductor testing processes
    ・Experience in electronic component selection, qualification, validation, and lifecycle management.
    ・Familiarity with automotive and semiconductor industry standards and methodologies, including AEC-Q100, 8D problem-solving, failure analysis, and advanced testing.
    ・Understanding of semiconductor supply chains, supplier management, and component sourcing strategies.
    ・Working knowledge of Siemens EDM or similar component data management systems.
    ・Knowledge of REACH and RoHS compliance requirements.
    ・Business-level Japanese and English communication skills, both written and spoken.
    ・Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
