Participated in ReVision Mobility Summit 2024| Industry Event Experience Vol.1
Recently, Hanako Kawasaki, a member of our JMS team, attended the ReVision Mobility Summit 2024 and heard from various automotive and mobility-related companies.
What is ReVision Mobility Summit 2024?
How Mobility Can Update Our Lives and Society
– Explore initiatives to increase regional value and the business models that will emerge -.
Under the slogan “Mobility Summit”, various organizations and companies active in the mobility field will introduce their initiatives and explore the value created by mobility, the latest business, its impact on our daily lives, and how we should live in the future. The summit provided an excellent opportunity for all kinds of companies and organizations involved in the mobility business, from complete vehicle manufacturers to Tier 1 consulting firms, startup companies, and government agencies, to participate in the event, and to interact with a wide range of people involved in the industry and to experience the latest information.
At the summit, participants learned about the latest business trends related to micromobility and shared rides, especially from the perspective of “mobility as a means to enrich people’s lives,” demonstrating the richness of mobility’s potential.
The following is a summary of what was particularly impressive to Kawasaki.
1. redefining the term “mobility
Mr. Kurata of KPMG Japan said that he was very impressed by the words of Mr. Kurata: “Mobility is not only about transportation, but also about all activities including daily life and people’s desires. His insight that mobility is not only limited to vehicles such as cars and their transportation, but also encompasses all aspects of life, in other words, “a lifestyle enriched by transportation by vehicle,” symbolizes how close mobility is to people and how it can be directly related to their daily lives. I think it is symbolic of how close to home mobility is for people and how it can be directly related to their lives.
We are often involved with companies in the automotive industry from the standpoint of providing employment support, but this was a good opportunity for us to think about the lives of people beyond the businesses of these companies.
Collaboration between mobility companies and public organizations
The number of companies that have achieved collaboration with local governments and other public organizations, as exemplified by OpenStreet, which provides a shared bicycle service, was impressive. The mobility business is based on the concept of “mobility,” and therefore the cooperation of public organizations is essential when using land. For example, they lease land from local governments and use it to set up bike-sharing stations. In particular, these stations are designed to be conveniently located in case of emergency, so that they can be used for evacuation in case of disasters such as earthquakes.
It is from this perspective that we can see how mobility can become a service rooted in our daily lives. We can clearly envision mobility as a means of helping people in their daily lives as well as in emergency situations.
3. new infrastructure
As Mr. Takahashi, President of NearMe, a shared ride service provider, explained, mobility services have great potential for future development, especially in Japan, and could become a means of supporting daily life as the fourth infrastructure along with public transportation in the future. The view that in Japan, where public transportation is the primary means of transportation in daily life, including commuting to work and school, there is no resistance to viewing transportation as belonging to the public, and that ride-sharing services may be easily accepted is very persuasive.
Expectations are high for a future in which such mobility services are commonplace, not as an extraordinary event, but as part of our daily infrastructure.
◇ Finally
The discussions on various businesses from the axis of mobility showed the vast scope of mobility, the flexibility of the services provided, the familiarity with daily life, and the potential for development in the future, resulting in high expectations for the future of the industry. In addition, many companies are expanding their businesses, and many of them are putting more effort into recruitment accordingly, as they have been told directly by the companies.
As the only recruiter at the summit, Mr. Kawasaki was convinced of the continued growth of the industry and felt that he could support the development of each company from a recruiting perspective. As a recruiting agency specializing in the automotive and mobility industry, Turnpoint Consulting will continue to proactively learn about the latest industry trends and strive to find the best candidates to support the prosperity of companies and the industry as a whole.
