In this role you will support the transition of automotive electronic products from prototype and development into stable mass production.

The position focuses on Surface Mount Technology (SMT), PCB assembly processes, production equipment, soldering processes, process validation, and manufacturing-quality improvement.

You will introduce and validate manufacturing equipment, optimize production processes, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and work cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, and suppliers.

The role requires practical understanding of electronics manufacturing, particularly SMT processes, SMD components, soldering, solder-paste inspection, PCB/PCBA manufacturing, and electronic component assembly.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Industrialization & Equipment Introduction
    ・Support the introduction, development, and validation of production equipment and assembly processes during new-product launches.
    ・Conduct production trials and process-validation activities.
    ・Review supplier proposals for equipment, tooling, and manufacturing solutions.
    ・Support the design or selection of small tools and production aids.
    ・Ensure manufacturing equipment and processes meet product and production requirements.

    SMT / Electronics Manufacturing Support
    ・Support manufacturing processes involving electronic components and printed circuit boards.
    ・Apply knowledge of SMT and PCB assembly processes to production engineering activities.
    ・Support manufacturing activities related to component mounting, soldering, inspection, and electronic assembly.
    ・Assist in identifying and resolving manufacturing-process issues.

    Mass Production Support
    ・Monitor manufacturing performance using quality, cost, delivery, productivity, and manpower-related indicators.
    ・Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and production efficiency.
    ・Support cycle-time reduction and other process-improvement activities.
    ・Provide technical support to production teams.
    ・Participate in structured problem-solving and quick-response quality activities such as QRQC.

    Process Quality & Standardization
    ・Participate in PFMEA and Control Plan activities.
    ・Support process risk assessment and manufacturing-process validation.
    ・Apply standard operating procedures and production standards.
    ・Support 5S, safety, and workplace-organization activities.
    ・Identify process or compliance issues and support corrective actions.

    Cross-Functional Coordination
    ・Work with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, and supplier teams.
    ・Coordinate technical requirements related to manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes.
    ・Support technical discussions with suppliers.
    ・Participate in process-design and continuous-improvement activities.
    ・Help ensure that product-design requirements can be implemented effectively in production.
  • Requirements
    ・Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
    ・Knowledge of electronic components and printed circuit board fundamentals.
    ・Understanding of electronic manufacturing or production processes.
    ・Knowledge or practical experience related to Surface Mount Technology (SMT).
    ・Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical drawings.
    ・Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    ・Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, and suppliers.
    ・English: Business level.
    ・Japanese: Conversational level.
  • Preferred
    ・Experience with PCB / PCBA manufacturing or electronic assembly processes.
    ・Familiarity with SMT-related manufacturing processes such as SMD component mounting, soldering, reflow processes, solder-paste processes, & inspection
    processes ・Familiarity with electronic component packages such as BGA.
    ・Experience with production equipment introduction or process validation.
    ・Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, QRQC, or similar manufacturing-quality tools.
    ・Automotive electronics manufacturing experience.
    ・Experience supporting new-product introduction or transition to mass production.
    ・Test engineering or PCB-related technical experience.
    ・Knowledge of electronic circuit-board technologies.
