As a Configuration Engineer, you will be responsible for driving and managing the specification definition process for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including CVD, Etch, and Clean systems. You will work closely with customers, internal engineering teams, and suppliers to ensure customer requirements are accurately translated into equipment configurations and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. In this role, you will coordinate specification reviews, manage configuration changes, prepare equipment specifications and technical documentation, and oversee component selection, procurement activities, and budget control. You will also support equipment installation and tool integration activities, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with project objectives. Success in this position requires strong cross-functional communication skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both domestic and international stakeholders to deliver high-quality semiconductor equipment solutions.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    - Define and manage semiconductor equipment configurations for CVD, Etch, and Clean systems throughout the project lifecycle.
    - Coordinate with customers, internal teams, and suppliers to align equipment specifications with customer requirements.
    - Manage specification changes and ensure configuration accuracy from project kickoff through tool shipment.
    - Prepare and maintain equipment specifications, technical documentation, and engineering drawings.
    - Lead cross-functional discussions to obtain agreement on system specifications, responsibilities, and project deliverables.
    - Select locally sourced components, support procurement activities, and manage project budgets.
    - Oversee equipment installation, move-in, and system integration activities to ensure successful deployment.
    - Monitor project schedules, risks, and technical issues while driving timely resolution with stakeholders.
    - Collaborate with domestic and international teams to support project execution and customer satisfaction.
    - Provide technical support and configuration guidance to ensure semiconductor equipment is delivered according to agreed specifications.
  • Requirements
    - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
    - Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering, manufacturing, or semiconductor industry experience.
    - Ability to communicate in Business Japanese and conversational English.
  • Preferred
    - Mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge with the ability to understand complex equipment systems.
