In this role, you will lead the Quality function for the Japan business, ensuring strong quality performance across plants, suppliers, projects, and customer-facing activities.

You will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing quality organization, deploying standardized quality management systems, improving supplier quality, driving new project quality through APQP, reducing customer claims, and aligning local quality activities with global strategies.

This is a senior leadership role requiring strong automotive quality experience, team management capability, customer-facing experience with Japanese OEMs, and the ability to operate effectively in a global matrix organization.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    ・Lead the Japan Quality function, driving quality strategy, organizational capability, and performance improvement across plants, suppliers, and projects.
    ・Develop and maintain automotive quality systems and standards (IATF 16949, VDA, APQP), ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
    ・Act as the primary quality contact for Japanese OEM customers, managing escalations, reducing customer claims, and improving supplier quality performance.
    ・Lead new project quality activities, including APQP, gate reviews, launch readiness, and flawless product introduction initiatives.
    ・Drive continuous improvement, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, quality digitalization, and strategic quality initiatives across the organization.
  • Requirements
    ・Extensive experience leading automotive quality organizations, including team management and direct customer-facing experience with Japanese OEMs.
    ・3-5 years of experience in automotive quality assurance.
    ・Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
    ・Strong knowledge of automotive quality methodologies and standards, including IATF 16949, VDA, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
    ・Proven ability to lead multicultural teams and collaborate effectively across functions in a global matrix organization.
    ・Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    ・Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
    ・Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 30%), including Asia, North America, Mexico, and Europe.
  • Preferred
    ・Experience with passive safety products, particularly restraint systems (seat belts).
    ・Experience supporting global automotive OEM customers across multiple regions.
    ・Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent.
    ・Lean manufacturing knowledge and continuous improvement experience.
    ・Experience working in multicultural global environments.
