The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for leading quality engineering activities within the Technical Center, ensuring robust quality systems, and driving excellence across development programs. This role manages a team of Quality Engineers supporting automotive development projects, while maintaining compliance with global standards and customer requirements.
This position also carries the authority to intervene in production and shipment processes to ensure product quality during both development and mass production phases.

- Responsibilities
- Quality Leadership & Governance
Lead and manage the Quality Engineering team, including resource allocation and performance management
Take ownership of quality deliverables across development programs to meet customer and internal targets
Drive resolution of non-conformities, including warranty claims, customer issues, supplier concerns, and internal defects
Promote best practices and lessons learned across projects and teams
Quality Systems Management
Implement and maintain the Quality Management System aligned with global standards (IATF 16949 / ISO 9001)
Act as Quality Management Representative for audit readiness, document control, and continuous improvement
Lead internal audits and coordinate with global quality teams as required
Operational Authority
Exercise authority to stop production or shipment in cases of quality risk
Ensure conformity to product and customer requirements throughout development and production
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with Program Managers, Technical Center leadership, and Plant Quality teams
Interface with customers on development and plant quality matters
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality performance and issue resolution
Integrated Management System (IMS)
Ensure compliance with Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards within area of responsibility
Train and guide team members on applicable IMS requirements
Drive continuous improvement within the defined scope

- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 5–6 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably within manufacturing or development
Prior experience managing teams and leading quality initiatives
Experience with internal or external auditing processes
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards and implementation
Proficiency in core quality tools (PPAP, FMEA, SPC, DOE, Control Plans)
Familiarity with customer quality requirements and APQP processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
Soft Skills
Strong leadership and team management capability
Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese (business level)
Ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
