You will be responsible for purchasing activities across Japan, including supplier selection, commercial negotiations, cost reduction, purchase-order execution, supplier performance, and purchasing-process improvement.
In this role you will work closely with commodity, program, and indirect purchasing teams while supporting plants, project teams, finance, legal, quality, and regional leadership. Although this is a manager-level title, the position includes a considerable amount of hands-on purchasing execution and operational support.

- Responsibilities
- Purchasing & Supplier Management
・Manage purchasing activities across Japan, including supplier sourcing, selection, and commercial negotiations.
・Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery, payment terms, and tooling costs.
・Drive supplier selection, cost reduction, and profitability improvements while aligning with regional purchasing strategies.
Purchasing Operations
・Oversee purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier follow-up, and purchasing documentation.
・Support daily purchasing operations and maintain purchasing systems and supplier data.
Supplier Performance
・Monitor supplier quality, cost, delivery, and overall performance.
・Partner with Supplier Quality to support PPAP, supplier development, and corrective actions.
・Escalate supplier risks and performance issues when necessary.
Process Improvement & Leadership・Improve
and standardize purchasing processes and operational practices.
・Lead and support the purchasing team while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
・Ensure compliance with company purchasing, quality, safety, and environmental policies.

- Requirements
- ・Diploma or bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain, purchasing, engineering, or a related field.
・At least 3 years of purchasing, commercial, supply-chain, or automotive business experience.
・Experience negotiating price, delivery, payment terms, and supplier agreements.
・Ability to analyze supplier quotations, cost structures, and commercial proposals.
・Experience handling purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier follow-up.
・Strong written and verbal communication skills.
・Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
・Strong analytical and data-management skills.
・Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
・Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
・Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

- Preferred
- ・Automotive-industry purchasing experience.
・Experience with direct materials, program purchasing, commodity purchasing, or MRO purchasing.
・Supplier nomination and sourcing experience.
・Cost-reduction and value-analysis experience.
・PPAP or automotive supplier-quality knowledge.
・Experience supporting multiple plants or business sites.
・Team leadership or buyer-management experience.
・Knowledge of automotive quality-management requirements such as IATF 16949.
