Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Receive purchase requests from internal requesters, obtain quotations from appropriate suppliers, and negotiate contract terms and conditions such as price and delivery date.
    Create purchase orders by registering order data in the company's purchase order system (SAP) and arrange for orders to be placed with suppliers.
    Manage delivery dates from order placement to delivery, and strive to meet project schedules.
    Support for drafting and reviewing design documents/procurement documents (SOW, Technical Spec, Drawing, etc.) for customized products, etc.
    Review, negotiate, and agree on Non-Disclosure Agreements, Master Transaction Agreements, Terms and Conditions, and other contractual documents for transactions with suppliers.
    Compliance with domestic and international export control regulations, preparation of necessary documents, and obtaining internal approvals.
    After confirming receipt of invoice and milestone deliverables, request payment to the accounting department.
    Other duties as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Requirements
    Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing or development business firm or three (3) years of experience in procurement of manufactured or developed goods in the space and defense industry.
    Able to read and understand quotation, contract and specification documents in Japanese and English.
    Experience and ability to negotiate with suppliers on contract (purchase order) terms and conditions.
    Experience and ability in troubleshooting and recovering from delays in delivery of ordered items.
    Ability to work with and communicate with related internal departments (engineering, production, program, accounting, legal, etc.) as required to carry out procurement tasks.
    Native level of Japanese and English language skills to negotiate with overseas business partners in order to perform the above duties.

    Experience in one-of-a-kind, high-value customized products, from specification coordination to negotiation of terms, contracts, and delivery
    - Experience and knowledge in dealing with export/import regulations in Europe, US, and other foreign countries
    - Knowledge of satellites, their components, and on-orbit operations
    - Experience in public projects and projects for public agencies and defense ministries
