The Data Center Facilities Engineer is required to provide on-site oversight of data center and lab infrastructure in Japan. This role will manage operations, maintenance, and vendor coordination for mission-critical facilities, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with safety and corporate standards while working closely with regional and global teams.

- Responsibilities
- Oversee operations, maintenance, and upgrades of mechanical and electrical systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC, cooling towers, pumps, UPS, generators, PDUs, ATS/STS, and building automation systems).
Monitor and optimize power and cooling capacity utilization, supporting regional capacity forecasting and budget planning.
Manage installation, commissioning, and vendor activities for infrastructure projects at local labs and facilities.
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventative measures to maintain operational reliability.
Develop and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and emergency response documentation; provide training for junior engineers and technicians.
Support international projects, including occasional global travel for project handovers, audits, or escalations.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and corporate operational policies.
Participate in on-call duty after hours for emergency support.

- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
7 years or more of hands-on experience operating and maintaining mechanical infrastructure in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including UPS operation, power distribution, and generator controls.
Fluency in both English (TOEIC 800+) and Japanese (JLPT N2 or equivalent).
Excellent troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
Experience collaborating with vendors, contractors, and global teams.

- Preferred
- Experience in hyperscale or large colocation data centers.
Relevant certifications (CDCP, CDFOM, AOS, Chief Electrical Engineer, Refrigeration Supervisor, etc.).
Familiarity with DCIM tools, BMS, and environmental monitoring systems.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of an on-call roster.
Willingness to travel internationally to support projects and global initiatives.
