Company Profile

History of Aptive

Aptive was founded in 1991 as GM’s automotive parts business, then spun off from GM in 1998 and re-launched as Delphi Automotive Systems in 1999. The company then changed its name to Delphi Corporation in 2002 and underwent a GM-backed restructuring in 2005.

In 2011, Aptive was again listed on the U.S. market and experienced sustained growth in the following years; in 2017, the company acquired the software startup NuTonomy to strengthen its foray into self-driving technology. With this acquisition, Aptive participated in a major project to develop and commercialize self-driving vehicles.

In addition, Aptive has established Motional, a joint venture with the Hyundai Motor Group, to develop and commercialize high-performance, safe, self-driving vehicles in 2020. With these strategic moves, Aptive has established itself as a leading company in the field of automotive technology and is pursuing success well into the future.
