Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Define and implement local sourcing strategies for non-centrally managed direct materials (e.g., subcontracted operations like heat treatment and painting) painting)

    Lead RFQs, negotiations, technical evaluations, and supplier selection in collaboration with global and program procurement teams

    Manage and negotiate supplier contracts (pricing, payment terms, productivity goals, logistics, etc.) in line with corporate procurement policies

    Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers to support plant cost, quality, and delivery targets

    Drive change management and VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives for local suppliers

    Monitor supplier financial health, cost performance, and support accurate reporting in procurement systems

    Coordinate with Quality and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues related to supplier quality or delivery delays

    Serve as the point of contact for urgent or complex procurement matters at the plant level

    Ensure all activities are conducted ethically and in accordance with internal policies and delegation of authority
  • Requirements
    Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field

    3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably focused on on direct materials in the automotive or manufacturing sector

    Fluent in both Japanese and English, with a global mindset and ability to engage international teams and suppliers

    Familiarity with ISO/TS16949 requirements and lean manufacturing practices (Kaizen)

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); SAP experience a plus

    Must possess a valid Japanese driver's license and be willing to travel domestically and internationally
