As a member of the Intellectual Property Department, this position supports overall IP operations through patent and trademark management, domestic and international application procedures, liaison with law firms and vendors, and various administrative tasks.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    IP portfolio management and docketing (management of applications, deadlines, inventor information, and reporting)
    Preparation and management of patent, utility model, design, and trademark applications to the Japan Patent Office and related procedures
    Response to notices from the JPO and management of post registration procedures
    Liaison with domestic and foreign law firms and IP service vendors, instructions Preparation, confirmation, and invoice processing
    Management and process support to in-house IP counsel
    Organizing electronic files related to IP matters, preparing meeting materials, and managing invention disclosures
    Obtaining signatures, notarization, legalization, and other formalization of documents required for domestic and international applications
  • Requirements
    The candidate should have at least 3-5 years of direct experience as an IP paralegal or IP administrator in a corporate legal department or an IP law firm.
    JPO Knowledge: The candidate should have a deep and practical understanding of the patent and trademark prosecution procedures (from filing to registration and maintenance) at the JPO.
    Software proficiency: Proficiency and working experience with IP management software is a must. Experience in data migration and data management is a must.
    Japanese: Native level (reading, writing, speaking)
    ・English: Business level (reading, writing, speaking) *For effective communication with global teams and foreign representatives.
