Job Description

  • Responsibilities
    Design, develop, and implement software tools and platforms for IP data mining, patent searching, landscape scoping, analysis, and visualization
    Evaluate and develop IP analysis methods and tools utilizing natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML)
    Prior art search, patent monitoring, FTO analysis, competitive intelligence gathering and other process automation
    Trend identification and strategic insight through data analysis of patent and non-patent literature
    Research, evaluation, and implementation support for new IP-related technologies, tools, and data sources
    Collaboration and technical support with R&D teams, IP professionals, data scientists, and IT departments
    IP Provide training and best practices for tool users
    Planning and managing IP tool and system implementation projects and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
  • Requirements
    Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing software solutions, data analysis tools, or automation scripts.
    - Programming proficiency, especially in Python; knowledge of NLP, ML, and data analysis related libraries.
    - Strong knowledge of database technology and data warehousing concepts. Strong knowledge of.
    Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or data visualization tools using programmatic libraries such as D3.js, Matplotlib, Seaborn, etc.
    Knowledge of API integration and web scraping technologies.
    Deep and practical understanding of patent and trademark examination procedures (from filing to registration and maintenance) at the Japan Patent Office (JPO).
    Japanese: Native level (reading, writing, speaking) / English: Business level
  • Preferred
    -3-5+ years in a technology-focused role, preferably in an IP, R&D, or legal tech environment
    -Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML services
    -Proficiency and working experience with IP management software required. Experience with data migration
