Aptiv was established in 1991 as part of GM’s automotive components division. In 1998, it became an independent entity separate from GM and, in 1999, rebranded as Delphi Automotive Systems. Subsequently, in 2002, it changed its name to Delphi Corporation and successfully underwent a restructuring with support from GM in 2005.

In 2011, Aptiv reentered the U.S. market and achieved sustained growth in the following years. In 2017, to strengthen its presence in autonomous driving technology, Aptiv acquired the software startup NuTonomy. This acquisition allowed Aptiv to engage in extensive projects related to the development and practical implementation of autonomous vehicles.

Furthermore, in 2020, Aptiv established a joint venture with the Hyundai Motor Group known as Motional, with the goal of advancing the development and commercialization of high-performance and safe autonomous vehicles. Through these strategic moves, Aptiv has solidified its position as a leading company in the automotive technology field and continues to pursue success into the future.
